Freelane.excite.com offers free Internet access for Mac
Excite
last week released Mac client software for Freelane,
its free, ad-based ISP that was previously
PC-only.
Excite claims that Freelane, which is powered by the
1stup.com service, offers fast 56k modem connections.
Other features include unlimited and free net access,
the ability to use the browser of your choice, and a
weekly $1,000 sweepstakes exclusively for Freelane
users.
So what’s the catch? Anytime users are connected to
the Internet using Freelane they are required to have
the Freelane Navigation Bar, which sports easily
viewable banner advertisements, running and completely
visible at all times.
Because 1stup.com recently made its client software
Mac compatible, expect other 1stup.com-based free
ISPs to announce Mac-compatibility soon.
